Monday 17 October 2016 the Rotary Club of Kununurra had a special celebration aboard the MV Jabiru to commemorate 30 years to the day when the Club was presented with its Charter. Rotarians & friends enjoyed fellowship aboard the Jabiru whose deck many past Rotarians had shared that same friendship of Rotary. Following on from the successful completion of the Ilitimur School in Atauro Island, the Rotary Club of Kununurra is moving to complete the stock water programme, which was the most favoured project for Tom and Rusty on their last visit. The cattle trough project was identified as being a foundation for a lot of secondary gains for the people of Atauro, other than purely watering stock. It also becomes a basis for further opportunities to improve stock management in the future.
The Youth Engagement Strategy [YES] is a collaboration between a number of government and non-government agencies who all have a vested interest in creating an engagement culture for our most disengaged young people. Working together in a centralised environment that caters for the holistic needs of each individual participant is deemed to be the most effective strategy in attempting to engage these youth into activities which are aimed at their specific needs.
