Sadly we have said goodbye to one of our club's charter members, Raymond (Spike) Dessert.  Spike has been a larger than life character in and around Kununurra since the 1970s, one of the original pioneers of the Valley, and, as he's often been described, an ideas man.  

I am sure that everyone has loved hearing of Spike's adventures around the Rotary table from time to time, he's a man of many talents, his story telling and his inclination to tell people exactly what he was thinking, especially if the meetings were running longer than they should have are a small part of how we will remember Rotarian Spike.

There were plenty of helpers about when it came time to send Spike off in style at his beloved Hoochery, he made sure there was a looming cloud cover and a wicked light show in the background of the service where our club rallied behind the Dessert, Stewart, McGee and Fletcher families.  

We have heard from both of our rebound Rotary Youth Exchange Students since returning for 2018.  

Both Jed (Poland) and Sheridan (Brazil) have both regaled us with tales of their year long adventures and personal journeys.

Both Jed and Sheridan have headed to Perth to embrace the next stage of their lives.
