Well update: Ilitimur, Atauro, TL

Rotary's work towards the local water tank, well, and cattle trough for the Timor Leste village Ilitimur is finally paying off with everything falling into place. The Rotary Club of Margaret River provided the physical labour to make this project happen; high school leaders flew over to provide the hands-on work which was a fantastic opportunity for them.

Julien wrote this letter update to Bruce Livett and Kununurra Rotary in late November and attached a range of photos to put a picture to the project.

Dear Bruce,
Just to let you know we’ve been in action – four days’ worth [of work] with well built up, trough completed and sealed, water tank stand erected with help of the locals which was only interrupted yesterday because of a death in the family! The trough is according to specs, the well too, but the tank stand is round like the other local tank stands.

​A 1,100 litre tank has been purchased and will go on tomorrow afternoon (it’s Independence Day so no work allowed in the morning and we’ve been told that VIP seats have been reserved for us for the flag raising at 8:30…) and a trial run of water into the trough will be done, before we can clean out the well.
 
AND we still have to paint our basketball/volleyball court before leaving for Dili on Monday (and we’re expected to attend a Church service on Sunday morning too!!)…
